Renewing American Cities for Equality
The term “race” has been used for generation upon generation to separate us. Hitler imprisoned and killed millions of people all for the purpose of distinguishing his “pure” and “superior” race. Tribal conquests in Africa led to the sale of conquered people as slaves to non-blacks around the world. For years, the concept of a superior race has fueled abusive behavior.
This concept that one race is superior is not only evil and demonic, it is an ideal that is impossible to achieve. Man has created the term “race,” and we have allowed it to become the stronghold that keeps us from achieving equality for all people. A stronghold is a firmly established way of thought in a person or society. However, the Bible tells us that we have been given the “divine power to demolish strongholds.” (1 Corinthians 10:4 NIV) Race, or racism, is a major stronghold that we have the power to destroy.
Renewing America’s Cities for Equality sets out to do just that. We focus on bringing truth and breaking down walls of racism and injustice. We build trust and respect and demonstrate equality toward people of color.
We Dream of a Country
We dream one day of a country where the founding fathers’ vision and laboring for hope and freedom for all people would not be in vain.
We dream one day of a country where truth is born through love.
We dream one day of a country where injustice no longer exists because the demonstration of love for one another has blanketed our country.
We dream one day of a country where no one goes hungry, there is a safe and healthy living environment where every person has been educated, empowered and given the opportunity to have a successful life.
We dream one day of a country where all people are heirs to equality and justice.
We dream one day of a country where, in the process of renewing our own rightful place as people, we make a difference in the lives of others.
We dream one day of a country where our children are never again stripped of their selfhood and robbed of their dignity because of the inequality and injustice.
We dream one day of a country where faith in God dissolves discord and creates a beautiful symphony of love.
We dream one day of a country where relationships of respect, trust, and honor are demonstrated between churches, municipalities, police, schools, social agencies, and interfaith groups that will say, “what can we do together that we can’t do apart”.
We dream one day of cities across America, where black men, white men, brown men, Jews and Gentiles, Catholics and Protestants will be able to join hands in our loving country and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual, “Free at last, free at last; thank God Almighty, we are all free at last”.
